Environmental Mold DNA Analysis — 10 Targets

Fungiten is a targeted MSQPCR panel for submitted dust samples. It evaluates the five HERTSMI-2 organisms together with five additional molds selected for their association with mycotoxin production.

Sample Type

Accumulated dust collected with the supplied sampling material. Vacuum sampling is also available as an optional collection method.

Dust Quantity

Lis Biotech can accurately process samples containing as little as 1 mg of dust. For MSQPCR testing, 5 mg or more is recommended when possible.

Important Information

Fungiten is an environmental laboratory measurement based on fungal DNA detected in the submitted dust sample. The selection of testing services is the responsibility of the customer or the environmental professional directing the testing. Interpretation of environmental or health significance should be discussed with an appropriately qualified professional.

Return Policy

For same-day or 1-day turnaround service orders cannot be canceled.
A refund of 85% of the total purchase is available for all services with a turnaround time over 2 days, only if the cancelation is received by email before 1 P.M. (CST) of the day after the customer receives the email confirmation about the sample reception by Lis Biotech. Please send the email to support@lisbt.com. For the sake and protection of Lis Biotech employees the cancelation cannot be processed by phone.
The refund request is under the customer's will and responsibility.
The refund request must be submitted in writing within 90 days after the purchase. After this time Lis Biotech can offer the same amount of money in credit (in US dollar currency) to the customer for future testing.
Please allow a minimum of 5-7 business days for the refund.
Additional courier fees are the responsibility of the customer. You may choose another method of shipment if there are any additional fees for pick up in your area.
HERTSMI-2 Score Considerations

HERTSMI-2 is a panel originated by Dr Shoemaker based on the detection and quantitation of the 5 molds, also determined by MSqPCR. Each mold is given a weighted value, depending on the abundance of the mold. The sum of these 5 values is then tallied, and interpreted in accordance with a published table( ). The HERTSMI-2 score reflects the potential that a sufferer of Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), who returns to the location where the sample was collected, may relapse. The score allocated to the molds in determining the HERTSMI-2 score does not provide information about the abundance of a mold or the degree of moldiness of a location. As with the ERMI, patients with CIRS acquired after exposure to the interior environment of a water-damaged building with toxigenic organisms, including but not limited to fungi, also could result from exposure to bacteria, including Actinobacteria and Mycobacteria, as well as inflammagens such as endotoxins, mycotoxins and other biotoxigenic contaminants.
NB: HERTSMI-2 analysis cannot provide guarantees that HERTSMI-2 scores below/close to 11 are safe for habitation because some individuals are extremely susceptible to inflammation from exposure to Water-Damaged Building. A low HERTSMI-2 score possibly is not sensitive enough to show all areas of a given building. HERTSMI-2 analysis/score does not replace careful observation of symptoms and lab results obtained following re-exposure.
