BACID – Comprehensive Bacterial Profiling (NGS-Based)
BACID is a next-generation sequencing (16S rRNA)–based molecular test designed to characterize the bacterial community present in environmental samples. This analysis identifies bacterial DNA and reports the relative abundance of detected organisms, providing a detailed profile of the bacterial composition within the sampled environment.
What’s Included:
- Broad bacterial taxa identification
- Focus on Actinobacteria and environmentally relevant bacteria
- Identification of bacteria commonly reported as human pathogens
- Relative abundance (%) of detected organisms
- Dominant genera and species
- Diversity overview of the bacterial community
- Structured visual charts and tables for clear interpretation
Quality Control
Our process incorporates DNA extraction controls and PCR inhibition checks to ensure assay performance and data integrity.
If inhibitors are detected in a sample, you will be notified, and the sample will be canceled prior to further processing. In such cases, only the processing fee ($50) will be charged
Testing & Reporting
The test is conducted weekly. Samples received Monday–Wednesday are reported the following Tuesday, and samples received Thursday–Friday are reported the following Friday. Once your sample is received at Lis Biotech, it will be processed in the next scheduled BACID™ batch, and your report will be delivered via email upon completion.
Ideal For
- Environmental bacterial assessment
- Water-damage related investigations
- Pre- and post-remediation comparisons
- Indoor environmental quality evaluations
- Research applications
Important Information
- This is a molecular screening test and not a medical diagnostic.
- “Detected” indicates that bacterial DNA was present above the assay detection threshold in the sampled material.
- “Not detected” does not confirm absence.
- DNA detection does not confirm viability.
Sample Type: Dust collected using sample cloths or vacuum devices
Turnaround Time: Based on weekly processing schedule
