BACID-DERMO – Skin Microbiome Analysis (NGS-Based)
BACID-DERMO is a next-generation sequencing (16S rRNA)–based molecular test designed to characterize the bacterial community present on the skin surface.
This analysis identifies bacterial DNA and reports the relative abundance of detected organisms, providing a detailed profile of the skin microbiome.
What’s Included:
- Bacterial taxa with focus on Actinobacteria
- Bacterial taxa commonly associated with the skin microbiome
- Bacterial taxa commonly reported as human pathogens
- Relative abundance (%) of detected organisms
- Dominant genera and species
- Diversity overview of the skin bacterial community
- Structured visual charts and tables for clear interpretation
Quality Control
Our process incorporates DNA extraction controls and PCR inhibition checks to ensure assay performance and data integrity.
If inhibitors are detected in a sample, you will be notified before proceeding. You may choose to halt processing for that sample. If the test is canceled at that stage, only the processing fee ($35) will be charged.
Testing Schedule
The test is conducted weekly.
-
Samples received Monday through Wednesday will be reported the following Tuesday.
-
Samples received Thursday and Friday will be reported the following Friday.
Important Information
- This is a molecular screening test and not a medical diagnostic.
- “Detected” indicates that bacterial DNA was present above the assay detection threshold in the sampled area.
- “Not detected” does not confirm absence.
- DNA detection does not confirm viability.
Turnaround Time: Based on weekly processing schedule
Sample Type: Sterile Skin Swab
